Housing Survey
Totland Parish Council are carrying out a housing needs survey and the findings will be analysed, with the final document being completed and agreed by Totland Parish Council.
This study has been designed to understand residents’ current housing circumstances and their future housing needs (including other family members or other people living with them). The survey will also cover the additional need for people who work in the West Wight but may not live and may want to move to Totland from other areas on the Island. It has also been designed to understand what type of housing is available in the area and the extent to which it is affordable to local households.
In order to achieve the aims and objectives, the study involved:
- A survey designed to understand the housing needs of existing and newly forming households and understand attitudes to further housing development in the parish; and
- obtaining information about housing in the parish and the supply of housing, rents and purchase prices.
You can either download a copy of the survey here Totland Housing Survey and return to the Parish Office or our preferred option is for you to use the link below to complete the survey on line. We can also deliver a copy or you can collect a copy from the Parish Office.

PLASTIC AWARENESS DAY
Promotional Video https://youtu.be/E0lujON8qkQ
Totland Parish Council are pleased to present our first Plastic Awareness Family Fun Day. We have teamed up with campaigning group Plastic Aware to organise a day in which people can get advice about how they can make changes to their own plastic use in order to ‘do their bit’ towards combating the serious issue of excessive plastic consumption.
The other part of the day will be a series of fun activities for children to reinforce the message, all on an anti plastic theme. There will be a pebble hunt on Totland Beach – with a prize draw. Local mosaic artist Helen Goodman will be creating, with children, a pop up beach mosaic. The Art Ecology team will be there with fun activities for children on a beach wildlife theme. Bird Aware Solent have devised some fun activities for children including decorating a clay seagull with beach ‘finds’ plus games and information about how birds are affected by plastic pollution.
Local beach side restaurants and cafes are all behind our initiative and have all pledged to stop using plastic straws with several already committed to excluding other types of plastics – for example, takeaway containers, stirrers and takeaway coffee cups.
We hope to see loads of people on the day in the beautiful setting of Totland Bay, where families can additionally enjoy a lunch or snacks in our wonderful beach side eateries.
